Ball of foot pain, also known as metatarsalgia, refers to pain and discomfort in the area of the foot where the toes meet the foot (the "ball" of the foot). This condition is characterized by pain in the metatarsal region, which is the area just behind the toes, and can occur for a variety of reasons. The pain can range from mild to severe and can affect one or both feet. You might develop it if you participate in activities that involve standing for long periods of time, running,  jumping or wearing improper shoe gear.
