Fractures

What is a foot fracture?

A foot fracture is a break or crack in one of the bones in the foot. The foot consists of 26 bones, and any of them can potentially suffer a fracture due to trauma, overuse, or certain medical conditions. Foot fractures are common and can range from small, hairline cracks to more severe breaks that require medical intervention.

Treatment for a broken foot depends on the exact site and severity of the fracture and an x-ray is often needed to evaluate the severity of the fracture. A severely broken foot may require surgery to maintain proper position during healing. If you are concerned that you may have a foot fracture please request an appointment at Bigfoot Podiatry or give us a call to schedule an appointment.
