Warts

What are warts?

Warts are small, benign growths that appear on the skin of the feet, caused by an infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). These warts typically develop on the soles of the feet, toes, or around the heels, where pressure and friction from walking or standing can occur. The virus infects the outer layer of the skin, leading to the growth of a wart. Common foot warts include: plantar warts, periungual warts, & mosaic warts.

Although foot warts often resolve on their own over time (as the immune system fights off the virus), they can take months or even years to disappear. If they cause pain or don't go away on their own, there are several treatment options available. If a wart is causing you trouble please request an appointment at Bigfoot Podiatry or give us a call to schedule an appointment at our Silverdale office.
